I find that movies that have a lot of advertising and hype before their release – suck. Despite the gazillions of dollars spent by McDonald's on marketing each year, my kids find their hamburgers completely unacceptable compared to those served by the substantially less marketed IN-N-OUT Burger. For me, the truism is this – while a necessary and useful business tool, marketing can be used to subsidize lack of value and can be misleading.
You and I have friends and neighbors who are in need. These are families like yours and mine. They go to our schools, shop at our markets, play sports with our kids. Today, 1 in 7 homes across America is in distress with homeowners who aren’t making their monthly payments. That is an average of 2 distressed homes/families per street across America.
Some homeowners in this situation are in denial, some are trying loan modifications (not knowing that only 1 in 5 loan mods actually succeed), some try short sales (selling their home for less than is owed to the bank), but eventually many lose their homes to foreclosure.
